Updating account deletion rules to include test accounts

Test account won't delete due to naming issue

The situation

A test account was created with a specific name for inbox proof testing, but the account deletion process is refusing to delete it because the name doesn't match the expected pattern. The account is no longer needed and is taking up space. The naming convention used for the test account will likely be used again in the future, so a solution is needed that will cover all similar cases. The current pattern for proof names is too narrow and doesn't include the test account's name, which is why it can't be deleted.

What they weighed

  • Widen the proof name pattern to include test accounts

    Chosen
  • Rename the test account to match the proof name pattern

What they decided

Widen the proof name pattern to include test accounts

Why

The test account's name is not matching the proof name pattern, and since the naming convention will be used again, widening the pattern will cover all similar cases. Renaming the account would only fix this one instance, but wouldn't prevent the issue from happening again in the future. By widening the pattern, all test accounts with similar names can be deleted properly.

The first step

Update the pattern, add test cases, and then delete the account through the operator route once it's no longer in use

How they would know it worked

The account is successfully deleted through the operator route and the updated pattern doesn't cause any issues with other account names

How it turned out
