Showing only rows the page can draw in the sidebar
AI reads unwanted row
The situation
A saved list member was appearing as a row in the sidebar with its raw id as the label, even though the page could not draw it. This was because the tool's screen had replaced a shipped screen, taking its id. The AI was reading this row, which was not supposed to be shown. The page rule is to only show offered rows and space rows, but the AI was not following this rule. The developer needed to decide how to handle this situation.
What they weighed
describe() keeps only members the page can draw: offered rows and space rows, same rule as the page
Keep the member and look its label up from the tool record
What they decided
describe() keeps only members the page can draw: offered rows and space rows, same rule as the page
Why
The AI reads exactly what the page draws, by the page rule. To maintain consistency, the developer chose to filter the describe() members to only include offered or space rows. This ensures that the AI only reads what the page can draw, following the same rule as the page. A label lookup would have shown the AI a row that the person can never see, which was not desirable.
The first step
Filter describe() members to offered or space rows, add a test, land through commit-paths.sh, read back live
How they would know it worked
Live read_sidebar on the account shows no row whose label is its raw id; test passes
