Take the person to the thing that needs them

Instead of telling the person what to do, open the exact thing that needs them (a drafted post to approve, stuck work, a decision to answer) as the main pane, start a walkthrough pointing at its own control, and tell them with a link that opens the same on any device

Give thing: the id of one card from tool:what-is-waiting-on-me (make the thing first, such as draft_post for a post to approve). Their open Trillion page opens on that exact thing as the main pane, with beside (an arrangement as save_layout takes it) next to it when given, and a walkthrough starts pointing at the thing's own control (its Approve, its answer); steps (as save_tour takes them) replace the one step, and a step without target_ref points at that control. say { title, body } tells them, with a link (/?layout=<id>&tour=<id>) that opens both on whichever device they pick it up on. A thing not waiting on them now (not made yet, already done) or one that opens outside Trillion is refused with taken false and nothing opened, so a walkthrough never points at an empty screen. A walkthrough their own show rules hold (a quiet time) waits until the rules let it show. A schedule or rule runs it as { "tool_id": "tool:take-me-there", "input": { ... } }; workflow:lead-me-to-it makes the thing first.

What it asks for

  • thing (Needed, words): One card's id from tool:what-is-waiting-on-me, such as posts:<post_id>
  • beside (Optional, details): What goes beside the thing: a pane or split as save_layout's arrangement takes it
  • name (Optional, words): What the arrangement is called in their Layouts menu; the thing's title when left out
  • steps (Optional, list): Walkthrough steps as save_tour takes them; a step without target_ref points at the thing's own control
  • say (Optional, details): What to tell them: { title, body? }; the notice carries the link that opens it
  • category (Optional, words): Where the arrangement and walkthrough are kept in their menus
  • key (Optional, words): The same key never tells them twice
  • by (Optional, words): Who asked, as the person knows them
