Work out unit economics

Work out a business's unit economics (ARPU, gross margin, CAC, LTV, LTV to CAC, payback) from one period's revenue, costs, ad spend and customer counts

Takes one period's numbers in whole cents and counts and returns revenue per customer, gross margin, cost to win a customer, lifetime value, lifetime value to acquisition cost and months (periods) to earn back that cost. A figure these numbers cannot give (no cost, no spend, no churn, a zero count) comes back as null, never as a made-up zero.

What it asks for

  • net_revenue_cents (Needed, number): Revenue after refunds this period, in cents
  • gross_revenue_cents (Needed, number): Revenue before refunds this period, in cents
  • cost_of_delivery_cents (Optional, number): What delivering the product cost this period, in cents
  • acquisition_spend_cents (Optional, number): Marketing and ad spend this period, in cents
  • active_customers (Needed, number): Paying customers this period
  • new_customers (Optional, number): Customers won this period
  • avg_lifetime_periods (Optional, number): How many periods a customer stays, when known
  • churn_rate (Optional, number): Share of customers lost each period, 0 to 1, used when avg_lifetime_periods is not given
